On the beef and horse paper was the question "what is 1 disease you should vaccinate your animal for?" Tanner put swine flu on both papers. I about died....I didn't realize how much I have not taught my own kids. Then when Breck was asked what gestation was he replied "a type of doughnut".......where did he even come up with that? I guess I have my work cut out for me.........Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-3105551211260138622010-03-10T21:18:00.000-08:002010-03-10T21:25:19.009-08:00Slap Jacks on the CornerMy big boys have been really into card games lately and the two favorites are, kings on the corner and slap jack. Jace came into the office today and wanted to play "slap jacks on the corner." It ended up being just slap jack except for he got to look at the card before he laid it down.......which I tried with no avail to convince him he was cheating, he told me "well, that's how I won mom." What to do with this boy............?Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-92180543458895913072010-03-10T09:28:00.000-08:002010-03-10T09:32:42.808-08:00Irish RoversI love these 2 songs by the Irish Rovers. My Papa had a tape and he would always play it for my sister and I when we were little and would go somewhere with him........it was the highlight of the trip! So fun to have it on my blog!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-11307256829298279892010-03-08T16:52:00.000-08:002010-03-08T16:53:46.013-08:00HolidaysValentines Day was a month ago and I am finally just changing my background. I really need to stop doing holiday themed backgrounds, because I am horrible at changing them..........Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-4882691213261758852010-01-21T11:55:00.000-08:002010-01-21T12:11:25.830-08:00ArizonaArizona was soooooo fun! I have decided that life is way too short to live in Idaho all winter. It was 70 degrees while we were there. We got to go on some cool rides out in the desert. The cacti there were way cool. They say everything in the desert there will either bite, poke or stick ya and they weren't kidding! We stayed during the week in Humbolt with the Richards'. George is a 7 time NFR qualifier and won it 1 year. It was really cool for Sid and Breck to rope with him and get some roping tips. We spent the weekends by Phoenix. It was so cool to see all the oranges, grapefruits and lemons growing. We also got to see some radishes being harvested which was neat. Sid and Breck both roped really well. On New Years Day, Sid won the 12 gold plus and won a new pair of gold spurs. He wants to wear them, but they are way too pretty and are going on the wall. Breck won the dummy roping there and won a new buckle. The other 3 boys stayed with my parents and had a great time snowmobiling up their cabin. I'm already ready to go back next winter!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-71772634854826133172010-01-21T11:09:00.000-08:002010-01-21T11:54:10.544-08:00Las VegasI just realized that I still has Christmas music on my blog and had never done a new post for our trip to Las Vegas.......I need to stay home more! So our trip to Las Vegas was great! I love Las Vegas at NFR time, there are soooo many cowboys and the atmosphere is amazing! We got to do some really fun things and meet some really cool people.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-17051073334480116112009-11-30T20:27:00.000-08:002009-11-30T20:47:36.703-08:00BelongingBreck was interviewed a few months ago for a magazine called, Belonging. It is a magazine for the Hemophilia community. We just got our copies and he is on the cover of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were soooooo excited. It is a super cool article! There are so many people in the hemophilia community that would consider us nuts to allow Breck to ride a horse (and have a tramp, and dirt bikes and on and on). But, I hope that we were able to help some families that have young children with Hemophilia to see that it isn't the end of the world and there are so many options out there for these kids. Yeah Breck!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-21666276056405786672009-11-30T20:19:00.000-08:002009-11-30T20:26:43.251-08:00Nug's leg update......So here is another cool picture of Nug's leg. She is making progress........although it is very slow! We definitely aren't going to have to put her down anymore, but she is still a long ways away from ride able. So as of now we are still hoping for the best and that we will be able to ride her again. In the mean time we are looking for her a suitable husband for next year......Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-29984494206184756102009-10-12T10:15:00.000-07:002009-10-12T10:18:48.550-07:00Fall CarnivalSaturday was the Fall Carnival at our school. The boys had tons of fun. Tan and his friend Beau helped (scared people) in the Spook Alley for most of the time. Breck loved the Cake Walk, and finally won him a cake. Conor loved the bouncy houses and Jace loved the Monster boxing. He kept saying "mom, can I do that again, I want knocked out!" It was really funny to watch, the gloves were as big as he is.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-56812416742222829002009-10-12T10:12:00.001-07:002009-10-12T10:15:24.064-07:00Go Jace!!!!!Jace won his first ever dummy roping! Jace won the 4 and under dummy roping in Billings at the WTRC Finals. This is the first one that we have let him enter and he did such a good job! He won a Bones, and we have been wanting one. And what a good color he picked out!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-36063233275572704912009-10-12T10:05:00.001-07:002009-10-12T10:11:42.515-07:00YellowstoneWe had a day when we were in Billings between the horse sale and before the roping started that we decided we would check out Yellowstone. When we went to go into the park they informed us that there were 2 fires in the park and 1 that was bad enough the road was closed and then there was also a bridge out. So we ended up only being able to come in the Northeast entrance and out the North entrance. So I didn't get to see Old Faithful.......bummer. But we did see a bunch of cool animals. We saw 100's of buffalo, which Jace wanted to ride. We saw a herd of bighorn sheep, Con wanted to bulldog them. A big black bear, a little wolf and a herd of elk that Breck wanted to rope. It was a LONG drive but it was fun for the boys to see it. Tanner didn't go with us to Billings, but Grandma and Grandpa took him and the exchange students that next weekend and they did get to see Old Faithful (they came in a different entrance) and Tan had a great time too.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-11722138485321675302009-09-17T11:12:00.000-07:002009-09-17T11:23:53.753-07:00Cody and the ChickenIf it isn't kittens in the form of horse poop, then it's turkeys in the form of chickens!

So, Breck told me about a week ago that there was a turkey in the pasture with our cows. I (like the good mom I am) totally blew him off thinking yeah right! Right, like there are turkeys in the pasture. So today I am outside and here come our dog Cody out of the pasture with this "turkey." The turkey is a chicken and it is totally alive, missing quite a few feathers but still alive! So Jace and I go running after Cody to get this chicken from him and he turn the corner of the house, drops the chicken off in the window well and takes off. He knew he was in trouble and in fact I still haven't seen him........smart dog! So we have one neighbor that I thought I had seen had a couple chickens and some ducks. We jump on the 4-wheeler and head over there and the lady says she is missing a rooster but not a chicken. So it makes me think that maybe the turkey/chicken is a rooster? So she follows us home definitely confirms it's just a chicken and takes it home with her. What great neighbors we have!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-5358489114260728042009-09-17T08:20:00.000-07:002009-09-17T08:31:34.965-07:00Furry PoopSo we were cleaning stalls last night and I made Tanner open the door up that leads out into the horses runs to clean behind it. After he had opened it I just noticed that there was some poop back there that he really needed to clean up. I was busy cleaning another stall and so I wasn't really paying attention, and every time I would check on him he still hadn't cleaned behind the door. I finished my stall and finally looked at the stall Tan was cleaning and noticed that unless Murphy had been eating something furry that was not poop behind the door! Now Tan has been in this stall for 30 minutes cleaning it and never noticed. So I asked him what it was and he said "it's just more poop mom." So I go to investigate this weirdness behind the door and there were 5 kittens there! And they are old enough that their eyes are even open. They are soooooo cute! We have been wanting some barn cats and I guess now we have some!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-85921523982110601412009-09-17T08:18:00.000-07:002009-09-17T08:20:54.992-07:00ConorCon lost his first tooth. It has been pretty loose for awhile and he wiggled it all the time and I just couldn't wait for the day that I got to pull it out. Well......he went to school one day and pulled it out himself and took all the fun!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-32463850074846234522009-09-17T08:15:00.000-07:002009-09-17T08:18:45.199-07:00Be careful what you wish for!So Sid and I have always wanted a little girl, but I'm not sure this counts. We were over at some friends house who have all girls and I guess if you can't "beat'em, join'em!" So before we know it Jace was dressed up as a girl, this was only one of many dresses he modeled for us that night. I am thinking this will be great blackmail when he is in high school.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-50563784018813303742009-09-02T20:28:00.000-07:002009-09-17T08:48:45.849-07:00Horse Update......So we got to take Murphy's stitches out tonight, and his eye seems to be healing nicely. I sure hope it looks normal before we head to the Wrangler finals in Billings in a couple weeks......Nugget came home on Tuesday and her foot is casted, so I have no idea what it looks like. She has to keep this cast on for 3 weeks and be on some big time antibiotics and then she goes back to the vet to see where we are at. We are still keeping our fingers crossed!

Update......So I ended up having to take Nug back to Dr Clark's, she got and infection inside the cast and she spent another 2 weeks there. I just got to bring her home again yesterday. Dr Clark said that if you were to cut part of the horses foot off with a chain saw it would look pretty much like hers does (which is not reassuring). So now her leg is just wrapped and she is REALLY sore on it still. So I think it is going to be a super long road with her but the vet thinks she will still heal up ok. I guess only time will tell!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-13927395593557569642009-08-30T17:33:00.000-07:002009-08-30T17:38:15.216-07:00BreckBreck finally got his new saddle today. He has had to wait 2 very long weeks to receive it. He did such a great job at this years junior rodeos. He also won 2 new buckles and some awesome back cinch buckles today as well.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-30868745681359790902009-08-28T02:19:00.000-07:002009-08-28T02:28:12.366-07:00Darn HorsesSo last weekend was a little rough on our horses. Friday night started with Murphy getting his eye cut open and needing stitches. Vets are hard to find on a Friday night in Richfield Idaho. So we have some amazing neighbors that came to our rescue that stitched him right up. I am just going to have to learn to do it myself, I hate being helpless. So then being the nice horse owner that I am decided to turn Rap, Nugget and Lloyd out into the new pasture so they could just be regular horses. Sunday morning we get up and notice they are still in the same place they had been all night, and Sid goes up to check on them and Nug had cut half her foot off (not an exaggeration). It was a MESS! I have never had a horse cut like that. So we wrapped it up the best we could. FYI vets are also hard to find on Sunday mornings also.......I don't know why these things don't happen Monday thru Friday 8-5. Monday morning I made an appointment with Dr. Clark and took her in and she is still there. Keep your fingers crossed for us! I am going to post a picture of it.....but don't look it you get grossed out easily.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-29521709042272347222009-08-28T02:12:00.000-07:002009-08-28T02:19:01.087-07:00Back To SchoolSo school has started and I really couldn't ever decide if I was ready for the boys to go back or not. I think it depended on the day and if I got to be mom or just a referee. But regardless of what I wanted they started back anyways. Tan was excited, Breck dreading it and Con finally deciding it would be ok if he was excited even if Breck wasn't. They looked SO handsome on the first day of school and we pull up and my 5th grader turns and says "mom you do not need to walk with me into school, I know where I'm going and i don't need your help!" He seriously was embarrassed of me..........what a weird place to be in! I always thought I was pretty cool.....nothing like having a 10 year old put you in your place. It is sad Con had to go to school, I could keep him at home to myself forever. And I think a little of me is nervous of being home with Jace alone. It is either going to be really good or really bad!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-51732747368959165292009-08-18T11:41:00.000-07:002009-08-18T11:47:09.549-07:00An End To The SeasonWe just survived the 2009 Junior Rodeo season..........whew! We had tons of fun and it was so great to see the boys improve so much! Last night was the short round in Gooding. Only the top 8 kids in every event got to come back and compete. Con came back in all 4 of his events (barrels, poles, goat tail un-tying and the dummy head roping). He did SO good! He won the dummy head roping and won a huge new buckle. It is one of the coolest buckles the boys have won yet! He also won a bag, a new set of spurs and a tie down. Breck came back in the goats and flag race and won a new set of bell boots and a new set of spurs.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-54060717455739455142009-08-11T17:08:00.000-07:002009-08-12T17:49:11.794-07:00BuhlWe wrapped up another junior rodeo association we competed in this year. There were only 4 of them and they are in Bulh. Conor won his first junior rodeo buckle in the dummy roping (he's won 3 others at the US ropings). And Breck got third in the flag race and third in the team roping. These halters he won were SO cool. He was the envy of every girl there. He knows purple is my favorite color and he told me I could use his halter, but I could not have it. We will see about that..........Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-68257415584925207532009-08-11T17:05:00.000-07:002009-08-11T17:08:22.268-07:00BreckWe went to watch a friend of ours rope in the Jerome rodeo. While all the other kids were running around and visiting the petting zoo, we couldn't find Breck. We then found him setting on the arena fence watching the rodeo. And this is after he had been at a rodeo for the past 12 hours.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-44587735776730687462009-08-11T16:59:00.000-07:002009-08-11T17:05:51.410-07:00Jace JaceWe went out to eat after one of the boy's junior rodeos and we went to eat at Chilies. I think it was quite the experience for Jace. While Sid was betting Breck $1 he wouldn't eat a jalapeno, Jace popped one in his mouth. Which is SO his personality! You guys talk about it and I'm gonna do it. Then when the waitress asked him what he wanted for dinner, he told her "a cheeseburger with a worm on it." Unfortunately for Jace they were out of worms in the kitchen. And then he decided he wanted eat the lime out of his dad's drink. We told him it was sour, but he bit into it about 12 times, before he decided it was truly sour. Two days later he rode his trike down the stairs in our house after being told it wasn't a good idea. I sure hope he grows out of this phase before he's 16!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-35299435964870725072009-03-30T12:51:00.000-07:002009-03-30T12:55:31.592-07:00SaddleIs is ok to have a blog where I can brag about my husband? He won it at a Wrangler roping in Ogden Utah, they beat out over 400 other teams. It was a really fun weekend, I am excited to start traveling again this year. It is so fun to see everyone when we go.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3912167386606171318.post-83002608669380560612009-03-30T12:42:00.000-07:002009-03-30T12:51:26.860-07:00Spring BreakOur spring break was totally lame this year. We went to Boise and had Breck's portacath removed (that is where he got his medicine). It is hard to believe that we had it put in 6 years ago. He handled it really well and everything went great. He was a little reluctant to leave the hospital, he really liked the play room and loved the remote that controlled the bed, TV, lights and the radio. I took out the I.V. on Saturday and he can take his bandages off this Saturday. It is weird to have that part of our life over, we have a whole closet in our house just dedicated to port supplies. Now what to do with the closet.........Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12289191267913719911noreply@blogger.com0
